 14th Armenian Medical World Congress

Session: AMIC Joint Session    Educational Planning and Evaluation
planning by ACCME core criteria:
Educational Needs
The provider incorporates into CME activities the educational needs (knowledge, competence, or performance) that underlie the professional practice gaps of their own learners. (formerly Criterion 2)
Practice gap:
AAMS is a member of the Armenian Medical International Committee (AMIC), an umbrella organization for Armenian medical organizations in the Diaspora. Its purpose is to connect, coordinate and mobilize Diaspora and talent for the advancement of Armenian healthcare.
The importance of facilitating cooperation among the Diaspora and organizations cannot be overstated. Individuals and organizations frequently carry out medical missions in Armenia with opportunity for improved connection with local practitioners and the health ministry. Sharing these medical missions among our member organizations and other interested parties could help ensure continuation of the projects throughout the year rather than for 1 to 2 weeks during the summer.

 Designed to Change
The provider generates activities/educational interventions that are designed to change competence, performance, or patient outcomes as described in its mission statement. (formerly Criterion 3)

Objectives:   Our Armenian medical congresses have traditionally focused on medical discussions of importance, particularly prevention and management of noncommunicable chronic diseases. This is also the case for the 14th Congress. However, we recognize, that with our very diverse audience (physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, therapists, different languages and geography, etc.) an important part of our goal is connecting individuals and associations, private and government organizations, as well as supporting and nurturing those connections. (We call these qualities the "C suite", see also https://amicnow.org/270 .)
During this first plenary session of the 14th Armenian Medical World Congress, representatives of the member organizations (approximately 20) will present their work. A PowerPoint template was provided to each organization to share brief descriptions of the organizations, past and ongoing projects, work locations and contacts in Armenia, telehealth activities, training, research, collaboration with other NGOs.

We recognize that some of our organizations are carrying out similar projects, and that duplication of services might be less effective than synergy of services. We have seen partnerships format prior Armenian Medical World Congresses (and even a marriage or 2). We would like to keep these partnerships going between congresses, offering them maximal visibility and support.

 Appropriate Formats
The provider chooses educational formats for activities/interventions that are appropriate for the setting, objectives, and desired results of the activity. (formerly Criterion 5)
Format:   AMWC 2025 is taking place at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid Spain. It is a joint providership between AAMS and Asociación Médica Amigos De Armenia (AMADeA), the AMIC member organization hosting the event. These are roundtable discussions moderated by the Dr Vicken Sepilian, president of AMIC and Dr Arsène Mekinian, founder of Santé Arménie.

The first session (3 hours) will include introductions, sharing of association projects, discussion of obstacles encountered and successes. A call for increased collaboration will include mechanisms of “checking in” among the organizations and facilitating connections.

The 2nd session (90 minutes) will be further discussion of individual organizations, with videos produced by those organizations to share with the group.

The first and 2nd sessions are concurrent. The 3rd session will be held the following day lasting 2 hours. Individuals who missed the first 2 sessions because of conflicting schedules are encouraged to join this session. We will review the recommendations for increased collaboration proposed by the group.

We will offer translation in real time using Google Translate adapted for several languages at once (see https://polyglotte.am)
 Competencies
The provider develops activities/educational interventions in the context of desirable physician attributes (competencies). (formerly Criterion 6)

Desirable physician attributes:   Competencies for AMIC joint sessions include professionalism, systems-based practice, interpersonal and communication skills, teambuilding.

Other competencies, including medical knowledge and patient care, will be developed in other sessions during the Congress.

 Analyzes Change
The provider analyzes changes in learners (competence, performance, or patient outcomes) achieved as a result of the overall program's activities/educational interventions. (formerly Criterion 11)

Anticipated results:   We anticipate that new partnerships will be formed among member organizations, other NGOs and interested individuals. Ongoing projects carried out by different organizations will meet each other and communicate. These new partnerships will be supported and publicized during the next 2 years and reviewed at the next International Medical Congress of Armenia in 2027.
